How to get to Woods Hole Marine
By Sea-
If this will be your first visit to Woods Hole, your best
bet is to plan your arrival and departure for slack tide. The currents in Woods Hole
Passage can exceed 7 knots-some of the swiftest in the world! Don't set out without good,
up-to-date nautical charts for the area. These are a must in any case, but here
especially, as the buoy set-up is pretty tricky. We favor
Maptech's Waterproof Charts, which are widely available.

Once you reach Woods Hole you must pass under a drawbridge to enter Eel Pond to reach Woods Hole Marine's dock.
The schedule for the Eel Pond Bridge is as follows:
-
May 15-June 14: 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
-
June 15-Sept. 15: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
-
Sept. 16-Oct. 15: 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
-
Oct. 16-May 14: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The bridge opens every hour on the hour and you must signal the bridgetender with 4 short
blasts, or you can hail him/her on VHF 13. The bridge is closed on New Year's Day, Easter,
Thanksgiving, and Christmas, as well as all Sundays in January and February.
Notice
The Eel Pond Bridge is due to be replaced this fall. From Sept 15 - 22 the channel will be closed to all boat traffic.
After that time there will be limited openings with a beam restriction.
Half the channel will be damned off while the new footings are being poured.
The new bridge is projected to be completed by May 15, 2009.
We will keep you informed of the progress. Please contact our office for any additional questions.
